I'm a Gen Xer who started learning to play music 20 years ago (in 2006). I was an adult in my 30's when I got a tenor banjo on a whim. I then discovered "unison melody" music - also known as fiddle tunes or Irish trad. I never developed an interest in soloing, strumming and singing, or playing chordal accompaniment, but show me a jam where everyone playing a melody instrument plays the instrumental melody line together at the same time and I'll give it a try! Irish, old-time, Quebecois, New England tunes...I like it all. I believe in playing music with friends where laughter, personality, inclusivity, and craic are just as important, if not more so, than musical ability.About Me
